Drawing is all-important in order to understand what it is that might be interesting about the landscape or figure. Colour is always significant as it has such a bearing on the mood.

Julian has started exhibiting with the gallery in 2022.

Born in Leeds in 1964, Julian did an art foundation at York College of Arts & Technology between 1982-3, followed by a First class degree at University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne between 1983- 1987.  Between 198 -1991 he obtained a Post Graduate Diploma at the Royal Academy of Arts. Notable exhibitions include New English Art Club in 1995, New Grafton Gallery, Barnes between 1999 - 2000, The Discerning Eye at the Mall Galleries in 2007, Francis Kyle Gallery since 2008, he has also exhibited extensively in Sussex. He has won a series of awards including M&S Young Artist award, National Trust Foundation for Art Commissions, the Painter Stainers Award.  Collections include Leeds City Council, TSB Group London, The National Trust, Citibank and Bank Sabadell in Spain.  More recently he took part in Sky Art’s Landscape Artist of the Year, series 6, episode 3 in 2021.
