As much as my paintings are poems about London, they are paintings about the twenty first century city. Glazing is an ideal way to render the way the colours work in the skies above the city. It offers a luminescence and depth which makes them as much abstract colour-field paintings as they are urban landscapes.
Andrew Torr
Andrew has started exhibiting with the gallery in 2022.
Born in Yorkshire in 1965, Andrew has lived and worked in London for 30 years. Having obtained a BA at Wimbledon School of Art under Bernard Cohen between 1984 - 1987, he has since exhibited at Boundary Gallery and Bedford Gallery and most recently the New English Art Club, winning the Winsor & Newton award in 2024. Since 2015 he has been concentrating on London scenes, primarily the commons in southwest London at night along with a series of estate paintings which have awarded him the Founder's Prize at ING Discerning Eye 2023, first prize for Jackson's Art Prize 2024 and being selected for the RA Summer Exhibition.
